Safelite: Auto Glass Repair, Replacement, and ADAS Recalibration Partner

Safelite: Auto Glass Repair, Replacement, and ADAS Recalibration Partner

A cracked or chipped windshield is more than cosmetic—it can limit visibility and interfere with vehicle safety systems. That's why Good Driver Club (GDC) partners with Safelite, a trusted national leader in auto glass repair, replacement, and advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) recalibration.

Why Safelite Matters

Safelite combines convenience, technology, and a nationwide network to make glass repairs simple and reliable:

  • Mobile or In-Shop Service: Many windshield repairs and some replacements can be completed at your home or workplace. If your vehicle requires camera recalibration, an in-shop visit ensures accuracy and safety.

  • ADAS Recalibration Expertise: Modern vehicles often rely on windshield-mounted cameras for features like lane departure warnings and emergency braking. After a windshield replacement, these systems may need recalibration to function correctly. Safelite performs more than 95% of these recalibrations in-house, eliminating the need for a separate dealership visit in most cases.

  • Repair vs. Replacement: Chips smaller than a quarter and outside the driver's direct line of sight can often be repaired. A Safelite technician will assess the damage and determine the safest option.

How It Works with GDC

Report your glass damage in the GDC app. Your Auto Damage Specialist will review the details, confirm eligibility, and coordinate next steps with Safelite.

The Specialist stays involved throughout the process, while Safelite handles the actual repair or replacement.

Understanding Costs

GDC Members may receive Safelite rates that are lower than standard market pricing in certain cases.

In general, glass costs are handled in this order: first the Member's Out-of-Pocket (OOP), then the Member's Remaining Pledge Balance (RPB), and any remaining eligible amount through Weekly Sharing.

For eligible glass replacement, the OOP may be waived if the Member selected the glass OOP waiver at enrollment. For eligible rock chip repairs, the OOP is waived automatically, whether or not the Member selected the glass OOP waiver.

For glass-only incidents, the RPB may also be waived if the Member selected the glass RPB waiver at enrollment.

Important note: The glass OOP waiver and glass RPB waiver apply only to incidents involving glass-only damage. In Florida, South Carolina, and Kentucky, both the glass OOP waiver and glass RPB waiver are included by default at no extra cost when the vehicle is enrolled.

Quick Answers

  1. Side or Rear Glass: The same process applies—report the issue in the GDC app.

  2. Does It Count Toward Renewal Limits? Generally, your first glass-only event (repair or replacement) does not count toward the two-accident renewal limit. Simple glass repairs (not replacements) also do not count.

Disclaimer: Safelite is an independent company within GDC's authorized partner network. Availability, pricing, and service options vary by location and vehicle type. GDC coordinates communication and eligibility with Safelite but does not perform the repair work directly.
