What Kinds of Vehicle Losses Qualify for Sharing

After an accident or other unexpected vehicle loss, one of the first questions members ask is: Can I submit this for sharing?
Losses that qualify
Good Driver Club is an alternative to collision and comprehensive coverage. It is not insurance.
In general, sharing applies when a loss comes from an unintentional incident that causes sudden, direct, accidental damage.
That usually includes:
Vehicle damage from an accident when you are at fault — such as hitting another vehicle or object, or your vehicle overturning.
Non-accident damage — such as hail, hurricane, flood, fire, theft, vandalism, animal strikes, falling tree branches, or glass damage.
Related towing and transportation expenses — in some situations, if the loss leaves you without use of your vehicle and program requirements are met.
Losses that do not qualify
Common examples include:
Wear and tear or mechanical issues — such as engine trouble, brake wear, A/C problems, or other maintenance-related repairs.
Cosmetic or add-on items — such as PPF or a wrap, unless they were directly damaged in the same collision or comprehensive event.
Intentional, false, or undisclosed damage — including pre-existing damage that was not disclosed.
Basic requirements still apply
Even when the loss itself qualifies, a few basic requirements still apply.
The vehicle must be listed on the Plan, and the incident must happen while the Plan is active.
The incident must be reported within 365 days.
If a driver was involved, that driver must be the Member, a listed driver, or a permitted driver, and the vehicle must have valid liability insurance in place at the time.
Repair requirements, parts choices, and how the vehicle is used can also affect eligibility. For complete requirements, please see the Terms and Conditions.
Still not sure?
